Putzmeister Introduces One-Sided Support (OSS) System for its Truck-Mounted Concrete Boom Pumps
Advanced OSS technology offers safer alternative to 'short-rigging' equipmentSTURTEVANT, Wis. (January 10, 2006) - A new standard feature on its truck-mounted concrete boom pump models from 42 through 63 meters, Putzmeister's One-Sided Support (OSS) system will be displayed at the World of Concrete 2006.
Allowing the boom pump operator to reduce the outrigger span on the non-working side of the unit, OSS facilitates a smaller overall machine footprint. Upon activation, this unique feature safely achieves setup in tight spots without full deployment of the unit's outriggers. This advantage is especially significant during setup within busy traffic conditions or when a lack of space exists on construction sites.
When OSS is in operation properly, a series of sensors within the system maintain a defined working envelope that prevents the operator from erroneously positioning the boom outside of a safe operational range. A switch designating right or left side operation must be turned on, and special indicator lights alert the user of operational effectiveness.
“OSS is ideal for space restrictive sites that demand a larger boom. The system removes the temptation for operators to 'short-rig' machines without the proper safety systems employed,” says Jonathan Omer, Marketing Manager at Putzmeister America. “The official introduction of OSS further emphasizes Putzmeister's commitment to promoting safety while advancing technology within the concrete pumping industry.”
The addition of OSS as a standard feature on models from 42 through 63 meters is effective in January 2006. For details, contact Putzmeister America at (800) 884-7210 or (262) 886-3200.
