Putzmeister America, Allentown & Esser Debut New Products at ConExpo 2011
STURTEVANT, WI (May 23, 2011) – Putzmeister America, Inc. (Putzmeister America), Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc. (Allentown) and Esser Pipe Technology (Esser) debuted new products at ConExpo 2011 in March.MX TB Placing Conveyor
Enhancing their Telebelt line, Putzmeister America showcased the first-ever MX TB Placing Conveyor. This innovative placing conveyor was specially designed for large, civil projects that require mass placement of large aggregate, near zero slump concrete, such as dams, hydroelectric powerhouses, coal and nuclear power plants.
“The MX TB placing conveyor, which is offered as both the MX TB 130 and MX TB 600, is the final concrete placing tool in a much larger and complete solution we provide to our customers through our Special Applications Business (SAB),” says Bob Weiglein, Putzmeister America’s Telebelt® Division Manager.
The placing conveyors are fed by an overland conveyor system where a Maxon Portable Surge Hopper feeds concrete onto a large feeder conveyor that then conveys the concrete into the MX TB’s hopper.
Both placing conveyors are equipped with a pedestal that attaches to a four-foot, six-inch square lattice tower that is available in 9-foot 11-inch (3.00m) and 18-foot 8-inch (5.70m) sections. The tower can be mounted using either the freestanding (capable of freestanding at a height of 80 feet) or ballasted base mounting configurations, similar to the placing booms.
Telebelt® TBS 130 Semi-Trailer Telescopic Belt Conveyor
In addition, Putzmeister America’s TBS 130 Semi-Trailer Telescopic Belt Conveyor made its U.S. debut. The semi-trailer configuration offers multiple on-site advantages including greater mobility, a tighter turning radius and reduced axle loads. Additionally, since the semi-trailer chassis can be removed, the machine footprint is reduced, freeing up space for other job site tasks.
“Contractors around the world are able to specify the type of chassis and the trailer axle configuration, either two or three axles, to meet their local weight and jobsite requirements,” explains Weiglein.
“In addition, the unit’s self-contained engine provides all the power needed for material placement which results in lower operation costs and reduced fuel consumption by matching the engine output to the needs of the Telebelt operation.”
Thom-Katt® TK 20 High Pressure Shotcrete/Concrete Pump
Allentown featured the updated Thom-Katt TK 20 High Pressure Shotcrete/Concrete Pump (formerly known as the Powercreter® 20) that offers the smoothest delivery and least pulsation of any shotcrete machine available.
“The 2011 version of the TK 20 has both a larger hopper and mixer,” says Patrick Bridger, President of Allentown. “These features make projects more efficient for our customers by accommodating larger amounts of material.”
Ideal for mid-range wet-process shotcrete and pumping applications, the 2011 model uses the sturdy Thom-Katt frame and familiar Thom-Katt control box.
SPM 307 Robotic Nozzle Manipulator
Allentown also showcased their recently renamed SPM 307 Robotic Nozzle Manipulator. Formerly known as the AST 25, the SPM 307 is ideal for wet- or dry-process shotcrete applications in underground work such as slope protection, or for tunneling projects where a smaller manipulator is necessary.
“The SPM 307 was renamed to fit in line with the rest of our nozzle carrier family,” explains Bridger. “Working with a concrete or shotcrete pump, it’s designed to automate the application of shotcrete.”
Several different SPM 307 features provide job site benefits, including the ability to operate on either electric or diesel power which allows it to be used on any type of job site. Also, a wireless remote allows the operator to be safely out from under newly excavated, exposed rock and a charging cable comes standard for when wireless is not allowed.
SDVH 3/2 Diversion Valve
Esser introduced its new SDVH 3/2 S-Valve Hydraulic Diversion Valve, ideal for continuous use on high-rise and long-distance pumping projects.
The leak-proof SDVH 3/2 Diversion Valve works with delivery pressures up to 1,885 psi (130 bar) and hydraulic pressures up to 2,900 psi (200 bar). The S-Valve design was used because it prevents any movement of connected delivery lines.
“This S-Valve Diversion Valve with hydraulic switchover was designed for selective charging of two delivery lines,” says Eric Zimmermann, Esser’s General Manager. “However, it also provides a shutoff option of one delivery line to adapt to job site needs.”
