Putzmeister America, Inc. Reverses the Material Placement Process with its Telebelt® Conveyors
Latest Putzmeister Reversing Conveyor Switches Direction of Material FlowSTURTEVANT, WI (January 1, 2007) – With the development of a reversing conveyor for its truck-mounted Telebelts®, Putzmeister America has switched the direction of material flow to “remove” instead of place aggregates such as dirt, stone and gravel on confined work sites.
The new reversing conveyor is specifically designed for removal of material in tight areas, which don’t allow access for large machinery such as an excavator and dump truck. As the actual belt runs in reverse, the locations where materials are loaded and discharged have also switched places.
To set up in reverse mode on-site, the operator extends the main conveyor to the spot where materials are to be removed. The tremie and trunk must be detached and a special front-end loader hopper attached on the end of the main conveyor boom. This is the point where materials will be loaded onto the main belt, thereby replacing the need for the feed conveyor during conventional operation.
Next, a separate 10 ft. reversing conveyor with an 18” belt width requires insertion at the rear of the Telebelt unit near the turret. This becomes the end point for discharging materials. Finally, the operator needs to adjust the valves to reverse the flow of hydraulic fluid and retrain the unit’s main conveyor belt, making it ready for operation in reverse.
“When large construction equipment won’t fit on congested job sites to remove dirt or other materials, the Telebelt can simply set up nearby, extend its main conveyor boom up to 130 ft. horizontally for reaching into tight areas and then operate in reverse to efficiently handle the job,” says Bill Carbeau, Sector Manager – Telebelts® and Special Products at Putzmeister America. “This optional feature can quickly solve a highly specific application when other cost-effective alternatives don’t exist.
The optional reversing conveyor is available on all Telebelt models, which includes the TB 80, TB 110 and TB 130 at 80 ft., 110 ft. and 130 ft. horizontal reaches respectively. It is recommended for use with Putzmeister’s optional front-end loader hopper.
