Putzmeister Unveils Largest Telebelt® Conveyor on the Market
At World of Concrete 2001, Putzmeister America unveiled the longest reaching telescopic belt conveyor on the market — the Telebelt TB 130.Equipped with many new features, Putzmeister's latest truck-mounted Telebelt model offers an impressive 126.5-foot (38.5m) horizontal and 70-foot (21.4m) vertical reach. It features a special "five-section" telescopic boom, comprised of a steel base boom and four aluminum sections. This specially engineered boom design optimizes the weight-to-strength relationship ratio of the aluminum and steel materials, and it enables the unit to mount on a four-axle cab-over Mack MR 688S.
The Putzmeister TB 130 can setup and operate under heights as low as 16 feet (4.8m), and place concrete at high outputs up to 360 cubic yards (275m3) an hour. The unit's versatility also allows conveying a wide variety of materials ranging in size from sand to 4-inch (100mm) rock.
Jonathan Omer, Putzmeister's marketing manager, noted that "The request for additional reach came from large jobs and contractors requiring extension beyond our 105-foot model. However to get a substantial 25 feet of extra reach, our engineering team needed to go back to the drawing board to optimize size, weight and function. Therefore, the TB 130 offers many similarities to the Telebelt product line of 50-, 80- and 105-foot models, but also offers several improvements."
One major difference is the newly designed and patent-pending outriggers — unique both to the construction industry and to the conveyor itself. Its special configuration keeps the outriggers highly compact during travel, yet provides the needed stability to attain a long horizontal reach. The unique outriggers feature three telescoping sections, which are contained within the unit.
The first two sections "hydraulically" telescope out to full extension and the third section then angles down. This feature helps avoid on-site obstacles. A highly compact 27-foot 9-inch (8.5m) front and 29-foot (8.8m) rear footprint further assists with fast and easy setup in congested areas.
For easy positioning, the Putzmeister TB 130 features an "hydraulically actuated" feed conveyor — similar to the 80-foot Telebelt introduced at last year's World of Concrete. However, the hopper is now integrated into the feed conveyor to further enhance this design. Its sides conveniently flip up or down and lock in place. This eliminates manually lifting, moving and reconnecting or restowing the hopper during setup and tear down.
Putzmeister also added an on/off switch to control the pressure washer from the standard radio remote box. Engineers also enhanced the bearings on the main conveyor pulleys for longer life.
