Putzmeister America, Inc. Develops New Hydraulic Climbing System for Efficient Use with Latest Pin-Connect Placing Boom Tower
Highly functional design enhances tower’s abilityto easily climb through floor openings without interruption
STURTEVANT, WI (October 1, 2006) – Putzmeister America, Inc. announces a greatly enhanced and highly compact hydraulic climbing system, specifically re-engineered for use with the company’s latest pin-connect placing boom tower.
Taking advantage of the smooth surface on the new tower’s sides, the fresh design incorporates distinct components that replace commonly used lugs. This further enhances the tower’s already unique ability to climb through floor openings without interruption. The result is even greater job site efficiency.
With the latest Putzmeister version, two hydraulic cylinders with quick-disconnect hoses and locking bars are now strategically positioned on only one side of the tower. This enables all lifting operations to be performed from one convenient spot. Plus, it ensures an unwavering motion when the tower is both hydraulically raised and locked in place.
The new self-climbing system avoids the need for a crane to lift the placing boom tower. Instead, the placing boom pedestal supplies the hydraulic power to operate the system’s lift functions. Additionally, the Putzmeister design still employs the tower’s patent-pending vertical support frame with two supports per opposite tower side.
When moving from floor to floor, all required components are pin-connected for fast setup and dismantle. Plus, lightweight in size, the cylinders, locking bars and floor bracket can also be easily carried from one level to the next.
“Our hydraulic climbing system is far superior to other systems,” says Bill Carbeau, Sector Manager – Telebelts® and Special Products. “Plus, it complements our recently introduced pin-connect tower, which uses four heavy-duty pins instead of bolts for easier connection in installing and raising the placing boom tower.”
The latest re-design of this hydraulic climbing system was delivered in fall 2006. For more details, contact Putzmeister America, Inc. toll-free at (800) 884-7210, (262) 886-3200 or visit the company’s web site at www.putzmeister.com.
